Our Quaint Farm

Rhythm and Balance Farm is centrally located in the horse country of Aiken, a straight shot down Charleston Highway, just 18 minutes from Downtown Aiken and a convenient, easy drive to multiple show venues; such as 15 minutes from Bruce’s Field, 15 minutes from The Vista, 30 minutes from Stable View, as well as 15 minutes from communities such as Three Runs Plantation, Bridle Creek, and Hatchaway Bride Farms, and also just 15 minutes from Wagener. We have become a little spoiled, and often boast that we rarely leave the “Donut of Aiken.”

The farm, family owned and operated by mother-daughter team, Shirley Rumpel and Katie Erpel, is situated on 10 well-cared for acres offering 8 stalls with safe, individual turnout paddocks with no-climb and electric fencing. We pride ourselves in offering a Boutique Style environment that is a professional, yet more relaxed atmosphere; a place where your horse is treated as one of our own, as we only offer 4 client training/sale horse stalls, the other 4 horses being our own. Our long-time friends and students have said they love our facility because they know their horses are well-taken care and that they and their horse are not just another number.

Facility amenities include:

  • Newly Renovated 20x60m Dressage Arena w/GGT Footing, Irrigation, and Mirrors

  • 5 Acre Grass Field for Cross-Training w/ Cavalettis and Jump Standards

  • Natural Footing Grass Dressage Arena - ( Irrigated and will be seeded and ready in the Spring)

    • Did you know that your horse should go on multiple different types of surfaces to not only improve their proprioception but to also to condition bone, tissue, ligament, and tendon integrity that are important to their longevity and soundness - this includes hills, varying surfaces, asphalt, grass, natural footings, not just being on the cushy GGT.

  • Owners Living on Premises, Hands-On Daily Care, Overseeing All Care Throughout Day and Night

  • High Quality Hay and Feed - Offering Individualized Feeding Programs

  • 12x13 Stalls and Individual Turn-out Paddocks

    • For the safety of your horse - especially, if it’s here for training or resale, we recommend individual turnout for injury prevention. All horses are next to each other in the paddocks, and have plenty of company.

    • We also take pride in leaving the horses out as much as possible - this is also another ulcer preventative to ‘keep the gut juices moving’ by the horse having access to walk around and move. The worst thing you can do for a horse’s gut health is to leave them in a stall for extended hours.

    • Also, in the spirit of motion is lotion, horses should be able to move around as much as possible.

    • Horses, are all, of course, stalled, based upon weather conditions of when it is bad weather - hot, storming, buggy, frigid temperatures of rain and cold, and after riding to cool down and dry off.

    • We are also happy to accomodate owners that would like their horses stalled to preserve color or other special needs.

    • We pride ourselves in having happy, healthy horses.
